All About Me
Hi. My name is Darlene Smith. I graduated from Valdosta
State University. I have taught at Wacona Elementary for 5 years. I am married
and have two children. My husband's name is Reggie. My daughter, Kimberly,
attends Valdosta State University. She is majoring in education. My son, Michael,
attends Ware County High School. Michael performs in the Golden Gator Band and
is a member of the Jazz band. In my spare time, I enjoy football (Go GATORS!),
band competitions, going to the beach, and hiking in the mountains.
My Philosophy of Education
My reason to choose education as a career is to share
my love of learning. I believe all children can learn and should be given an
equal opportunity. I believe that each child is a unique individual
who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and
mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire
as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by
providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites sharing
of ideas.
